About us
Bristol Sober Spaces is an events project offering a great night out — with one twist: no alcohol or other drugs. Whether you’re sober for religious reasons, identify as being in recovery, or just fancy a change of pace, you’re welcome here.
Since our founding in 2022, our mission has been simple: to host regular, high-quality, accessible and affordable live events that are completely drug and alcohol free.
Our events have included drum and bass, garage, world, hip hop, house, metal, punk and queer — there’s something for everyone!
We believe in the connecting power of sober events. By choosing to attend, you’ll become part of a rapidly emerging scene, with the chance to meet like-minded people in a safe and welcoming environment. Our events are great nights out in themselves, with the added benefits of no hangovers, saving money, enjoying music and performance with a clear head, and feeling part of a supportive community.
Bristol Sober Spaces has been lucky enough to collaborate with some amazing venues across Bristol, including Rough Trade, Trinity, Loco Klub, Jam Jar, Basement 45, Bristol Beacon.
How to get involved?
We have a committed group of volunteers to plan and co-run events, with sub committees for different events. There’s lots to get involved with and to share ideas so get in touch via our website or on social media.

What attendees and performers say
Bristol Sober Spaces has been a great way to connect with other musicians and generally ‘av a laugh with some of my Bristol pals…. Performing at the hip hop night has given me the confidence to go and perform at other events and realise my musical potential.
It was an honour playing Bristol’s first sober metal night! The atmosphere was so welcoming and friendly, I felt safe the whole night and everyone was buzzing from the music, if you didn’t know it was an alcohol free zone, you would not have known – the crowd were amazing, if not more excitable!
